Getting to the root of good health: The role of VCFSE in Health Creation
How the sector is supporting strong and resilient communities, preventing ill-health and reducing inequalities
Local VCFSE (Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise) groups who offer community-led health and wellbeing services play a crucial role in preventing ill-health, reducing inequalities, and supporting strong and resilient communities.
Some communities experience more barriers to support and are less likely to have illnesses detected and treated early. These inequalities can worsen our physical and mental health over time.
In this Live Well Live, you’ll hear about:
· How addressing the root causes of ill-health, rather than the symptoms, can enable people to live well and thrive
· Work already happening in Greater Manchester to support healthier, more connected communities
· How effective partnerships between the VCSE sector and primary care can create the conditions for good health
You’ll be able to put your questions to our VCSE and primary care speakers as part of a live Q&A.
Speakers will include:
Afrocats – A small women-led charity that supports refugees, asylum seekers and people living below the poverty line who face exclusion
George House Trust (Ageing Well) - Who provide support and services for people aged 50+ who are living with HIV in Greater Manchester with opportunities to learn new skills and to engage with volunteering opportunities.
Live Well Live is a series of online monthly interactive webinars that bring Greater Manchester’s movement for community-led health and wellbeing to life. From provocations to practice, these events will showcase what’s already happening in communities, by communities, and keep the conversation about how we grow community action, power and wealth LIVE!
All webinars in the Live Well Live series will be recorded and the recording will be shared after the event via our newsletter and uploaded to Fairer Health for All Academy
Live Well is Greater Manchester’s movement for community-led health and wellbeing, supporting healthier, happier and fairer communities by growing opportunities for everyone to Live Well.
Live Well will tackle health and wellbeing inequalities by changing how we work with communities and in our systems, to grow community power, action and wealth.
